SHAWANO, Wis., Oct. 1, 2026 — Charter Casting’s large, complex iron casting foundry in Shawano, Wisconsin, has earned World Class designations from two global off-highway OEM customers following separate, independent foundry assessments conducted in June and July 2026.
Each designation followed an independent one-day foundry tour and evaluation encompassing quality, safety, process control, continuous improvement, engineering, operational excellence, housekeeping and 5S practices, capacity, automation, delivery, workforce, sustainability, supply chain reliability, leadership and customer service.
The World Class designation places Charter Casting’s Shawano operation among the top 10% of foundries worldwide based on the customers’ assessment criteria.
“Receiving one World Class designation is meaningful. Receiving two, through independent evaluations by two global OEM customers, is especially significant because it validates the disciplines our team works to strengthen every day,” said Shane Bonner. “This recognition belongs to the people in Shawano. It reflects their commitment to quality, safety, continuous improvement, and delivering the level of performance our customers expect from a strategic casting partner.”
The recognition also reinforces what Charter Casting’s industry research shows matters most to today’s buyers. In a survey of 335 U.S. iron and steel purchasers, 82% said they prioritize the highest quality over the fastest design-to-delivery, while 66% prioritize delivery reliability over the fastest delivery possible. The two independent World Class designations provide customer-driven validation of the operational disciplines behind those priorities.
The recognition comes as Charter Casting continues to invest in the Shawano operation, including initiatives focused on lean transformation, increased throughput, manufacturing technology and equipment, and expanded capabilities to support large, complex iron casting requirements. These investments are designed to strengthen operational performance while supporting customers that require reliable domestic capacity, engineering collaboration, and consistent execution.
For Charter Casting, the two designations also provide independent customer validation of a broader commitment: creating a foundry operation capable of supporting demanding applications and long-term OEM manufacturing programs.
